Mr Shah passed the Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists examinations (MRCOphth) Parts I and II in October 2006 and June 2008 respectively. He passed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists examination (FRCOphth) in April 2012.

In May 2013 Mr Shah travelled to Paris to compete in the European Board of Ophthalmology Diploma examinations. Mr Shah passed these examinations and became a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology, but was also delighted to learn that he came 3rd in Europe – out of some 441 competing ophthalmologists from 24 countries.

In August 2014 Mr Shah was entered onto the Specialist Register of the GMC as an Ophthalmologist. He is also a member of the British Medical Association and the British & Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons (BEAVRS) and an international member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
